BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 5% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: After beginning 2019 with an 0-3 record and 9.22 ERA over 13 2/3 innings, Jose Urena has actually posted one of the best ERAs in the majors. You know what Chris Sale, Luis Castillo, Clayton Kershaw and Max Scherzer all have in common? They have all posted higher ERAs than Urena since April 16. Over his last seven starts, Urena has gone 2-3 with a 2.80 ERA and six quality starts, and he is also one of 41 pitchers to have six or more quality starts at this point in the season.
The overwhelming majority of Urena's value in fantasy right now is his low ERA, as he does not rack up many strikeouts. He currently owns a 15.4 percent strikeout rate — his lowest since 2015 — and he is averaging just over four strikeouts per start over his last seven outings. If owners can overlook the low strikeout potential, Urena will provide a boost to a fantasy team's ERA, and in quality starts leagues he could be a difference maker.
