ANALYSIS: What started off as a very troubling MLB debut turned into an incredibly promising one for Jose Peraza. First off, no matter what, he is a big threat for stolen bases. In just 134 MLB AB since 2015 he already has 15 steals in 17 attempts for an efficient success rate of 88%. Also, in two seasons and just 769 AB across the Triple-A level, he has stolen 43 bases in 57 tries. Secondly, he strikes out very little. He has a strikeout rate of just 10.7% through his entire six season minor league career with a .299 BA. Although he struck out 15.1% in the first couple of months for the Reds this season, he has lowered that rate to 10.9% in June and July. Also after failing to have a BA over .256 and an OBP over .300 for a month, he has a slash line of .458/.458/.667 in August. Jose Peraza has versatile position eligibility and racks up steals like clock work. Now that he is finally finding hits in the big leagues, he holds much more value moving forward.
