BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 5% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Detroit Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias does not have impressive numbers overall this season, but he has turned it on of late. Iglesias has hit .303/.367/.449 with a pair of homers and five steals over the past 30 days.
Even looking at the entire body of work for 2018, Iglesias’ numbers are pretty similar to those of Jose Peraza, who is owned in nearly eight times as many leagues for no apparent reason. While Iglesias only has a 24% hard hit ball rate (under his career-best 28.4% rate from 2017), but his 20.5% soft-hit ball rate is near his career-best (20.4% in 2012). He is also under 50% ground balls (45.5%) for the first time in his career.
Any owner with a need for a middle infielder who can steal a bag and hit for a decent average should consider the Tigers’ shortstop. Those in deeper leagues can even nab Iglesias as a starting shortstop, while he is a good option as a MI in more shallow leagues.
