ANALYSIS: If you're going to come here to tell me that you knew this was about to happen, you're a liar. That's what you are, my friend. Indianapolis started the season featuring Marlon Mack heavily on both the passing and the rushing game... only he lasted all of 9 snaps before having to leave the field injured to miss the whole season. Then, it was Nyheim Hines who took charge. Then, it was Jonathan Taylor starting in Week 2. Now, it looks like Jordan Wilkins is the go-to man in the Colts backfield. A mess' mess.
Through Week 7 bye for Indy, Jordan Wilkins had been on the field for 52 combined snaps in six games. He played 39 yesterday, almost beating that mark in just one swoop. No wonder, the third-year man had topped at 5.5 PPR points back in Week 3, having three goose eggs to go with that performance in his other five games... Until Detroit hosted the Colts and opened a fantasy-wonderworld to Wilkins.
Wilkins rushed the ball 20 times against the Lions (only Taylor has more rushes in a single game, 26 in Week 2) compared to Taylor's 11 and Hines' 5 carries. Obviously, he led the team in rushing yards with 89 and scored a touchdown. His usage in the passing game was virtually null... only that he caught his lone target for 24 (!) yards, and all things considered, he finished with a great 20.3 PPR points and RB6 of the week pending MNF.
Hines will retain his role as the pass-catcher off the backfield, and it'd be reasonable to have Taylor back with a heavier dose of carries going forward. But Wilkins was über-efficient on Sunday and could very well eat from Taylor's touches.
Baltimore is a bad matchup next week, but other than that Indy faces six straight defenses ranked 24th or below against fantasy RBs. If the usage indeed goes up, Wilkins might carry your team to the fantasy playoffs and the championship game (and once there, feel free to drop him as the Colts face the Steelers, which rank 2nd in preventing points from RBs).
