Jordan Wilkins (RB, IND) - Week 13 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: Indianapolis Colts running back Jordan Wilkins has seen his workload fluctuate greatly over the course of the year. He had 31 carries over a two-week stretch in early November, but in his two games prior to that stretch, he had a total of just two carries.

Much of Wilkins' usage is dependent on both the availability and the effectiveness of the team's No. 1 running back Jonathan Taylor (COVID) who was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 List prior to this past week's game against the Tennessee Titans. With Taylor out this past week, Wilkins went on to rush six times for 22 yards while catching three of his four targets for 35 yards. He missed about a quarter of the game while dealing with a leg injury. The team also leaned more heavily on fellow running back Nyheim Hines and their passing game this week as they were trailing by double-digits most of the way. Hines was great in the passing game, catching eight passes for 66 yards, but he only averaged 2.9 yards per carry on his 10 rushing attempts. Wilkins, meanwhile, averaged 3.7 yards per carry in the game.

Taylor could be back as soon as next week, but owners in leagues of 14 teams or deeper should consider taking a flyer on Wilkins just in case Taylor remains out or if Taylor struggles - like he has a lot this season - when he returns. The Colts have a fantastic schedule the next three weeks. They play the Houston Texans, who have the league's worst rush defense, in two of their next three games, and sandwiched between those two games is another favorable matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
