Prior to today, this season has been a disaster for Jonathan Stewart owners . The University of Oregon product, who was thought by many to be an RB1, bellcow-type back this year with the departure of DeAngelo Williams, has grossly underperformed this season, causing some owners to bench or cut him.
Today though, the Carolina Panthers' back changed his pattern of poor performance against perhaps the unlikeliest of opponents: The Seattle Seahawks. Stewart finished the day with 78 rushing yards, and two touchdowns, by far his best performance thus far this season. Can we expect more of the same from Stewart, or is this performance just an anomaly?
As a fantasy owner, one should likely take a wait-and-see approach with Stewart. Today's performance could be a result of coming off a bye week, which may have allowed Stewart to get healthy (Stewart was reportedly dealing with a leg issue earlier this month).
Performing so well against one of the league's top defenses is definitely nothing to sneeze at, but we would suggest seeing how Stewart holds up next week before throwing him back into your starting lineup as anything more than an RB2 at this current time.
