Baller Move: Add in all leagues
Owned In: 43% of Fleaflicker leagues
Analysis: The Jonathan Schoop hype train gathered additional passengers heading into this season and while he’s not been as good as many hoped, he’s been quite effective. The 24-year-old native of Curacao is now in his fourth season with the Baltimore Orioles and continues to show progression. This past week, he continued his electric May, picking up six more hits and raising his average to .310 on the month after hitting .218 in April. His K% remains at a career-low, while he appears poised to set career highs in hits, home runs and RBI. Perhaps the biggest issue with Schoop remains his inability to maintain patience at the plate. With a BB% of 2.8, it’s not deviating from what his career statistics show, but an improvement would go a long way in making him a better hitter. Owned in less than half of Fleaflicker leagues, he’s still a terrific option off the waiver wire. While he doesn’t provide versatility with positions, Schoop is a work horse, having played in every game the Orioles have had so far. He’ll provide a solid bat and durability to prospective owners.
