ANALYSIS: Considering the numbers Jonathan Kuminga put up for the Warriors through the first three months of the season (Dec. to Feb.) and his super-low minutes in his first 39 games (12 MPG), it made sense to keep the rumors up and the trade-deadline storylines warm just in case GSW decided to pull the trigger and move the rookie in an effort to bolster the squad with sights put on a serious postseason run. Only, you know, Draymond Green got banged up, Kuminga took on a much heavier role, excelled, and never looked back.
That's because Kuminga has appeared on nine games in February while playing at least 21 minutes in each of them averaging 27 MPG coming off the pine six times compared to three starts. The results? Sublime. Kum is scoring mightily (15+ PPG) while shooting ridiculous percentages (59% from the field) attempting a more than healthy 9+ FGA a day. He's also hitting one three-pointer per game when that's definitely not his calling card, so it's cool to find him contributing on bonus-fronts when out there.
The growing pains are notable on the TO department ( 0.9+ TOPG over the year, 1.6 in February) but you can have it all when it comes to second-unit rookies, can you? If you're hurting for points, rebounds (4.7 RPG in the last 9 games), and shooting percentages, Kuminga is your low-price guy and WW target of the day. Make sure to land him before it's too late as fantasy GMs around the nation catch up with this youngster's exploits.
