BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 6% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS: Rays utility infielder Joey Wendle was a fantasy darling last year. An unheralded 28-year-old rookie, Wendle slashed .300/.354/.435 with seven home runs and 16 stolen bases. As a speedy middle infielder with multi-position eligibility, it's no surprise he was a frequently added late-round flyer coming into the 2019 season.
Unfortunately, a pair of injuries have cost Wendle most of the season. He went on the IL in late-April after hitting just .136 up to that point. He's back now, and while his first week back was rough, his recent production has started to make him a deep league asset worth paying attention to.
Since June 22, a span of 45 plate appearances, Wendle has slashed .308/.378/.410 with seven runs scored, four RBI and three stolen bases. It's a small sample no doubt, and it's buoyed by a .375 BABIP, but the three steals are a great sign that his speed is back, and although the power hasn't shown up yet - it may be time to snag Wendle in 14+ team leagues.
Players with his versatility and speed aren't available all that often, and you won't want to wait too long to grab him before someone else does.
