BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 18% of leagues
ANALYSIS: A hamstring strain has kept Joey Wendle sidelined for the entire month of April, but he's nearly ready to return to action. The 29-year-old was a pleasant surprise for the Rays and fantasy owners alike last season, hitting .300/.354/.435 while stealing 16 bases and qualifying at every position besides catcher and first base. A finishing kick in which he piled up runs, RBI, walks, and steals inspired hope that his overage breakout might be sustainable.
Playing time could prove a challenge on a crowded Rays roster than is firing on all cylinders right now, but Wendle plays so many positions capably that Tampa has plenty of ways to get him into the lineup if they wish to do so. Given the circumstances, he's best employed as a bench bat who can fill in for your starters, but he's worth adding in plenty of formats and is currently available on the waiver wire in over 80 percent of Yahoo leagues.
