ANALYSIS: One of April's trendiest waiver wire adds, Joey Lucchesi appears to have been the victim of injury-related roster crunches for many fantasy owners. The Padres' left-hander, who celebrated his 25th birthday on Wednesday, recently faced live hitters for the first time since landing on the disabled list about a month ago. He's on track to return in mid-June, so fantasy owners in need of a boost to their pitching staff should consider stashing him now if they're in the roughly 70 percent of leagues where he's available on the wire.
In nine starts this season, Lucchesi is 3-2 with a 3.23 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 17.1 K-BB%.
