ANALYSIS: With Devin Williams sidelined until sometime around the All-Star break, the closing job was up for grabs and it was presumed Joel Payamps would fill in. Then, after Abner Uribe converted three straight saves to begin the season it seemed like he would run away with the job. A couple of weeks and a couple of blown saves later by Uribe, the pendulum appears to have swung back in Payamps' favor.

Payamps has recorded saves in two of his last three appearances, with a blown save sandwiched in between, but Uribe hasn't recorded a save in two weeks. While Payamps has totaled two blown saves on the season (three saves as well), his command has been good so far with seven strikeouts to just one walk and he's hit a batter. The 30-year-old has allowed four earned runs in eight-and-two-thirds IP, but all four runs came in the same outing.
This may end up being a closer-by-committee situation until Williams gets back, but right now it seems Payamps has the upper hand. The righty is available in 65% of Yahoo leagues and is a worthwhile add for those managers in need of saves. Just don't empty the bank to get him.
