Joe Mixon fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 1 (2024). Should you start or sit Joe Mixon for fantasy football in Week 1 of the 2024 season?
BALLER MOVE: Start in 10+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB2
ANALYSIS: Veteran running back Joe Mixon joined the Houston Texans in the offseason and should serve as a stable RB2 throughout the upcoming season.
Last fall, Mixon posted his fourth 1,000 campaign with nine rushing scores. He caught 52 passes for 376 yards and three touchdowns through the air.
While Mixon did see a drop in his rushing efficiency, with an underwhelming 2.4 average yards after contact, he was still a workhorse. He averaged 18.2 touches per game, which put him in the top 90th percentile at his position last season.

In Houston, Mixon looks to have a similar lead role in the backfield and should see the vast majority of rushing attempts.
Their season opener against the Indianapolis Colts is set at a high O/U of 48.5, which is one of the highest marks of the week. Expect quarterbacks C.J. Stroud and Anthony Richardson to push the ball downfield all afternoon which should provide Mixon ample red zone opportunities. This makes him a safe RB2 for Week 1 with the upside to cross the goal line several times.
