The Cincinnati Bengals had a decision to make on Joe Mixon's future with the team, and they eventually opted to replace him with former Colts RB Zack Moss. The Bengals were reported to have released Mixon after the move, but the Texans swooped in and traded for Mixon before his release became official.
Mixon will replace Devin Singletary, who joined the Giants after a one-year stint in Houston. Mixon is considered an upgrade over Singletary and is ready to take the Texans to the next level after they had a successful 2023 season.
What is the fantasy football impact of the Houston Texans trading for Joe Mixon?

Joe Mixon to the Texans: Fantasy Football Impact
Mixon's fantasy value took a massive hit as soon as the Bengals signed Zack Moss, and it didn't get much better after it was reported that the Bengals had cut him.
There was a lot of uncertainty on where he'd end up, and whether he'd still be a RB1 on his new team. But his trade to the Texans has returned his fantasy value to where it used to be, which is a reliable fantasy RB1 capable of truly dominant stretches of play.

Mixon had the best year of his career in 2021, tallying 1,519 yards from scrimmage and scoring 16 total touchdowns, finishing as the overall RB3 in the half-PPR format.
2022 was a down year for him, but he still had the best fantasy game of the season among all players, recording 55.1 PPR points in Week 9. He had a bounce-back 2023 season, finishing as the overall PPR RB6, but the Bengals had to move on from him due to their cap situation.
The Texans offensive line went through a lot of injuries in 2023, but when healthy, this unit is better than the Bengals offensive line. Mixon can take advantage of that and use Dameon Pierce's help as a backup when he gets tired.
The Bengals never really had a lot of good backup RBs during Mixon's tenure with the team, and the presence of Pierce could mean fresher legs for Mixon and potentially a higher yards per rushing attempt. Overall, Mixon remains a steady and consistent fantasy RB1 who should take the Texans into contention this season.
