BALLER MOVE: Stash in Deeper Leagues
ANALYSIS: The St. Louis Cardinals are like any other well-oiled factory - they turn out great product after great product. The Cardinals’ product just happens to be MLB pitchers. Joe Kelly won the 5th spot in the rotation over flame thrower Carlos Martinez. He won this not because he was the better pitcher in Spring Training, but because the Cardinals need Martinez in the 8th inning role, and Kelly showed he could pitch well as an MLB starter last year. With that being said, any starter that gets the ball every fifth day with that St. Louis lineup behind him can produce for your fantasy team. So if you’re in a deep league of 14 teams or more, Kelly is somebody that I would watch out for. If he starts out season doing well, scoop him up off the waiver wire, or if you have room you can stash him now.
