BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 24% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Perennial closer-in-waiting Joe Jimenez is waiting no more, as the 24-year-old has been given the Tiger's job after the trade of Shane Greene to Atlanta. Jimenez has had an up and down season, being removed from his setup role twice in 2019, only a year removed from being selected to the AL All-Star team. But Jimenez had been better in the weeks leading up to the trade deadline, only allowing 1 run in his last seven appearances prior to Greene being moved.
With Greene gone, the role that the Tigers always envisioned for Jimenez is finally his. This means he needs to be owned in fantasy, even if the save opportunities will likely not be plentiful given that Detroit is mostly non-competitive. But Jimenez did pick up his first save of the year against Kansas City on Friday, a day after getting the win against those same Royals. Detroit opens the week with three games against Seattle but the schedule gets brutal after that for the Tigers, with their next 17 games against the Rays, Twins, Astros, and Indians. The saves may be few and far between, but fantasy beggars can't be choosers so sometimes just you have to grab saves wherever and whenever you can.
