BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 10% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS: Tigers reliever Joe Jimenez is putting the finishing touches on an extremely solid month of May. Across 12 innings, Jimenez posted a 3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and a whopping 18/4 K/BB ratio. His season stats (3.86 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) are solid, but are being bogged down by a rough start to the season.
Of course, his month of May also came with a 4.56 FIP and a 100% LOB rate, so he did take advantage of some good luck.
All this is well and good, but the reason Jimenez is an intriguing add is twofold: 1.) He's a strikeout machine and 2.) the Tigers will likely look to deal Shane Greene this summer, which should allow Jimenez to step into the ninth-inning role in the Motor City.
For those who are desperate for saves, Jimenez is a very solid speculative add. There's reason to believe he could rack up 12-15 saves down the stretch, with a 35% strikeout rate and a decent ERA. That would make him a borderline top-15 closer, and he's worth taking a look at early if you have a roster spot for him in 14+ team leagues.
