ANALYSIS: Joe Ingles has been the picture of consistency since rising to prominence with the Utah Jazz, even as those around him have steadily improved. While his playing time might be trending downward slightly due to the increasing roles of guys like Royce O'Neale, Miye Oni, and other Jazz come-ups, Ingles has remained rock-solid, and he came back into mid-January swinging following a brief absence. Through four games in December, the former overseas star was putting up 8.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 26.3 minutes per game, but was slow to get started from beyond the arc, shooting an uncharacteristic six for 20 (30%).
Now, through eight January contests to kick off 2021, Ingles has seen the floor 3.3 minutes less on average, but has jacked up his production and efficiency to counter, posting 11.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game while converting on a dead-eye 20 three-pointers out of 41 tries (48.8%). In the three games since his three-game absence, Ingles saw the floor just under 20.0 minutes per night, and while he totaled only four rebounds in that span, he also combined for 36 points and 14 assists (12.0 and 4.7 a game) and cashed in on a ridiculous 10 for 16 from deep (62.5%, 3.33 threes per game). Even now for a Utah squad that requires his presence in less volume, Joe Ingles' well-rounded skillset and long-distance marksmanship make him an option of considerable value in deeper formats.
