The Ravens have struggled this year (1-6), even though they have been in position to win almost every game. Joe Flacco hasn't lived up to his clutch reputation and has thrown three picks in drives that could have tied or won the game. But Flacco (61% owned) should still be on fantasy rosters in almost every league.
Few players have been as consistent as Flacco in recent years. He has started every game of his NFL career and has had more than 3,600 passing yards in every year except his rookie season. This year he is on pace for more than 4,200 yards which would be a career high. Flacco hasn't been elite - never throwing more than 27 TDs or less than 10 picks in any season - but he has been solid.
The Ravens will continue to pass the football under new offensive coordinator Marc Trestman. Flacco has attempted at least 32 passes in every game this season. The Ravens’ weapons are not anything special, but Flacco should have enough options for sustained production. Outside of Week 1 against the elite Broncos D and Week 4 against the rival Steelers, Flacco has been a capable option at QB.
He will never be elite in fantasy terms, but if you’re in need of QB to fill in during a bye week - or a safe insurance policy - consider Joe Flacco.
