Soria was lights out in 2014, so it was pretty sensible that the regression police were gunning for him last year. He still did well, striking out nearly a batter per inning (64 Ks in 67.2 IP) and posting a 2.53 ERA/1.09 WHIP alongside a 3.26 SIERA. He had his best swinging strike rate since 2009, and now he gets to be a part of a very strong Royals bullpen. He’ll be 32 this year, and while he’s no longer a young guy, he’s clearly still a very good pitcher who is showing no signs of missing a whole year back in 2012. While the ninth inning is Wade Davis’, Soria should work with Kelvin Herrera to become a holds monster as the Royals look to defend their title.
