Whether the reports of Jimmy Graham expressing frustration with his role (or lack thereof) in Seattle's offense through the first two weeks were true or not, the sentiment was valid either way. While Graham was targeted eight times in Week 1, he only saw two targets in a Week 2 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Perhaps it was the negativity surrounding a team losing a NFC Championship Game rematch, but many reports came out that Graham was unhappy. While Russell Wilson was finding guys like Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett, Graham appeared underutilized. When your team loses and you didn't get a chance to contribute, tension is sure to mount, especially for a guy who is used to being an offensive leader.
Week 3 saw Graham get eight targets, turning them into seven receptions, 83 yards and a touchdown in a rout of the Chicago Bears. These were not easy numbers either, he fought through a few defenders to get the touchdown, and he also was the go-to on a fourth down conversion. This was his first game in Seattle as a Seahawk, and I'm sure he would love to end up with stat lines like that every time.
Perhaps the reports were overblown and now Jimmy is unfairly painted as being a bit self-centered, but the man showed once again that he is a force when the ball is in his hands. Look for his role to resemble Week 3 more than Week 2 going forward.
