ANALYSIS: Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford had a quiet rookie season. However, the Browns had high hopes for the second-year running back. They didn’t re-sign Kareem Hunt in the offseason and named Ford their No. 2 running back behind Nick Chubb. While his fantasy outlook was limited at the start of the year, the former Cincinnati Bearcat has become a weekly starting option.
Ford took over as the starter when Chubb suffered a gruesome season-ending injury in Week 2. Cleveland did re-sign Hunt after Chubb’s injury, but the veteran has been the No. 2 guy in a split backfield. Ford is the RB22 for the year, averaging 11.3 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. He has 136 rushing attempts for 563 yards and three touchdowns to go with 23 receptions for 149 receiving yards and two scores in 2023.
After finding the end zone and scoring 10.9 fantasy points last week, the young running back has an outstanding fantasy football matchup on Sunday. The Denver Broncos have given up 28.8 half-point PPR fantasy points per game this season, the most in the NFL. They have surrendered over 150 rushing yards to running backs in 40% of the games this year, including two straight since the bye week.
