ANALYSIS: Needless to say, Jerick McKinnon has been quiet to begin the 2023 campaign. The 31-year-old has rushed just six times for 14 yards and caught seven passes for 53 yards and two touchdowns.
He's touchdown-dependent at this point in the season, but as the Kansas City wideouts continue to struggle -- could his role as a pass-catcher see a dramatic increase? It's possible.
Last season, McKinnon posted only one touchdown through his first 11 games. In his final six regular season games, he scored eight times. That's not likely to happen again, but an increased role is well within his range of outcomes.
If nothing else, he's a high-upside handcuff to Isiah Pacheco, who dealt with multiple injuries this offseason and whose playstyle welcomes taking on contact from defenders.
