ANALYSIS: Jeremy Lin is a player many shy away from because it has become a chic thing to do. For some reason, many seemed to hope for his demise as an NBA point guard after his meteoric rise for the Knicks in 2012. In the past couple of years, when he has failed to match his otherworldly play of that 2012 season, he has been unjustly labeled a bust.
Let us see Lin for what he is: a solid point guard who is on the cusp of being an everyday starter in Charlotte. With 11.6 points and 3.4 assists per game, Lin is not going to blow the opposition away. He is underrated and under-appreciated, and deserves to be rostered for his high ceiling (Linsanity part II, anyone?)
Lin's upside is capped because he is turnover prone and trapped behind Kemba Walker on the depth chart. Like Walker, he needs the ball in his hands to be successful, and so it may prove hard for both players to coexist simultaneously on the floor. Depending on how Steve Clifford is feeling on any particular day, Lin can see anywhere from 17 to 27 minutes in a contest. Even so, Lin has largely made the most of his time on the court thus far. On November 3rd against Chicago, he went for 15 points and four assists in just under 19 minutes, which would be wonderful production if consistent. It remains to be seen what Lin's true role is in Charlotte, but he's worth a roster spot in deep leagues where every player counts.
