EXPERT ANALYSIS: Jeremy Hellickson is on a roll, throwing five quality starts in his last six games. He may not blow hitters away or toss complete games, but he rarely gets roughed up either. He has a 3.84 ERA and 1.16 WHIP on the year, but in the last month those ratios are down to a 2.42 ERA and 0.92 WHIP. His strikeout numbers are enough to make him a viable fantasy option, with 106 K on the year. His July numbers have been extraordinarily better, as he currently has a 22/3 K/BB ratio in four starts this month. His 5.5% BB% is the lowest since his rookie year. The bad news is that Hellickson has given up 19 HR and is on pace to record a career high in that category. In all, a 7-7 record doesn't indicate how well he has pitched as of late. but Hellickson may soon get a boost in run support if rumors prove to be true. If he winds up being traded to a playoff contender, such as the Marlins or Red Sox, he could be in line for a couple more victories. Hellickson can provide a steady presence at the back end of rotations right now, but keep your ears open this week to see if remains a Philly or finds himself in a more desirable situation.
