Celtics guard Jeff Teague is a worthy consideration as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 3 of the NBA season.

ANALYSIS: Week of two very different halves for Boston's veteran backup point-guard. Teague has played four games in the past seven days, and 19+ minutes in all of them starting the one on Dec. 30th against Memphis. Teague is going to stay a backup, though, don't get that wrong. In those four matches, we have seen very different versions of Teague, but overall he's made enough to target him as a potential WW addition in slightly deep fantasy leagues.
In his first two games since last Sunday, Teague posted two below-average performances of 9-3-2-2 and 6-2-2-1-1 lines. In his last two, Teague was an above-average fantasy player with 4-5-4-4 and 12-1-3-2 lines. The truth is that none of those four games were otherworldly, for sure, but Teague's shooting has gone up from zero to 28.6, 33.3, and lastly 80 percent from the floor on 6, 7, 6, and 5 FGA.
While not leading Boston's second unit in terms of possessions finished, Teague's usage rate sits at a reasonable 19.7% and he has yet to finish a game with a negative plus/minus. Teague is putting up numbers in all cats with 8.3 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 2.8 APG, and 2.0 SPG in only 20.5 MPG; only nine players are doing posting such averages this season, and Teague is the cheapest/most-affordable one (the others being Drummond, Kawhi, Jaylen, Brooks, Jrue, Larry Nance, and Butler.
