BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 55% of Yahoo Leagues
ANALYSIS: Early on in this 2017 NFL season, it appears the Baltimore Ravens are going with a two-man running game system. There’s Terrance West and Javorius “Buck” Allen, the 26-year-old USC product. Last week, Allen led the way with 21 carries to West’s 19, but this week the disparity was much higher. Allen’s 14 carries were six ahead of West, as he gained 66 yards on the ground. His big week, however, was sealed in the air, as he caught five passes for 25 yards and a touchdown.
This system of splitting the majority of carries between Allen and West doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon, meaning both have significant value. Allen’s success in catches, however, makes him a very positive pickup this week. Baltimore’s schedule, which features the likes of Jacksonville, Chicago, Indianapolis and more games against the Bengals and Browns, bodes well for prospective owners, too.
Already owned in over half of fantasy football leagues, Allen’s availability is dwindling fast, and those in need of a running back may need to scoop him up now. His time as a major contributor two years ago bodes well for his chances to thrive this year. Of course, prospective owners should keep the aforementioned tandem in mind as they make this move. Allen will not be someone to start every week, but rather a bench player who may come in for certain games and provide solid value.
