ANALYSIS: See, JaVale McGee is definitely not going to be the man you remember when you think of the current iteration of the Suns in five or ten years. It makes sense, considering JVMG is playing a super low 16 MPG on the year backing Deandre Ayton up as the no. 2 center in the squad. That said, McGee has been a ridiculously impressive and efficient player of the pine--49 games he's played, and in just eight of them did he dropped below the league-average 0.9 FP/min.
It's been more than a few years to know what McGee can and can't do. Can: dunk and shoot rocks two inches from the rim, rebound, and swat shots. Can't: stretch the floor, keep turnovers at bay, dish out dimes. Good for us, the positive outweighs the negatives all things considered. See, JVMG is averaging a solid 11 PPG, 6+ RPG, and nearly 2 BPG in February (six games) while only playing 17 MPG in that span.
The shooting this month? 76% from the field on a healthy-for-JaVale 7+ FGA. The free throws drop at a 68% clip visiting the line over twice a night. But again, JVMG is what he is. A scoring player with rebounding upside and top-tier blocking numbers even playing from the pine. Perks of getting checks from the best team out West and a Finals contender, I guess.
