BALLER MOVE: Add in Most Leagues
ANALYSIS: If you’re in the market for a pitcher, look no further than Jason Vargas. He’s already won 6 games with a 3.30 ERA. He’ll continue to be a threat to record wins as Kansas City is now playing like the division winning threat most analysts expected in the preseason. His K rate isn’t going to blow anyone away, but he actually is getting players to swing and miss at a higher rate than the league average. Expect his strikeout numbers now (67 K in 92.2 IP) to go up as a result. He’s giving up a rather high rate of homeruns- even at pitcher friendly Kauffman Stadium surprisingly- which is a minor cause for concern. All in all, Vargas has been too good this year, and will continue to pitch too well, for you to pass up in all but the shallowest leagues. He may be one of the top 5 best starting pitcher available off the waiver wire for the rest of the season in most leagues.
