BALLER MOVE: Target ~250
CURRENT ADP: 287.8
ANALYSIS: Yes, it's true that Jason Grilli had a very rough Grapefruit League showing, with a 6.75 ERA. He did strike out five batters in four innings of work, so that's encouraging. He also started pitching later than his teammates - his first action was on March 17. The only thing to watch is that he's having a problem with his Achilles heel, which he ruptured last year. The right-handed veteran is still coming back from that and it wouldn't be surprising if it was still in the back of his mind as he's pushing off while throwing his pitches.
There are some who might think that Grilli just had a career year in 2013 with his 33 saves. He did show positive signs in 2015 with 24 saves, 2.94 ERA and 1.13 WHIP before his injury. The thinking is if he can at least reach 30 saves, he would be quite the steal, especially since we currently have him ranked at No. 31 among all relievers.
He was worried about being able to start Opening Day, but he should be pitching fairly soon after that if not then. If Grilli's Achilles (hey, that rhymes) keeps acting up, then all bets are off.
