BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 25% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Jarrod Dyson is in his tenth big league season with his third team and is putting together his best season to date hitting leadoff for the Diamondbacks. Known mostly for his speed before, Dyson has upped his walk rate five points above his career average to 13.6%. The added walks will allow Dyson more opportunities to swipe bags and score runs.
While Dyson leaves a lot to be desired in the RBI / HR department, if you are adding Jarrod Dyson, you aren’t chasing power, and you want the stolen bases and runs. As long a he is hitting leadoff in Phoenix and getting on base, those counting stats will continue to rack up.
While Dyson has no real competition for playing time vs right handed starers, he doesn't start vs. lefties (though frequently does come off the bench later in the game). He will continue to get at-bats at the top of their order 3-5 times per week depending on the matchups. With speed across baseball coming at a premium, Dyson is a cheap option off the waiver wire for anyone looking to add stolen bases to their roster. Only Adalberto Mondesi and Tim Anderson have more stolen bases this year than Jarrod Dyson and both of those guys would cost high-producing players to acquire in a trade. Dyson is available for free in 75% of leagues, but that may not be the case much longer as he continues to burn up the basepaths.
