ANALYSIS: Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff rates as a low-end fantasy QB1 option on Sunday when his team takes on the New Orleans Saints.
Goff is coming off of a strong showing last week against the Packers, even though his Lions team ended up losing 29-22. Goff was 29-for-44 for 332 yards and two touchdowns in the loss, his third game in a row with multiple touchdown passes.
For the season, Goff has completed 67.9% of his pass attempts for 3,075 yards and 18 touchdowns while being picked off eight times, already one more than last season.
The Saints have boasted a strong passing defense this season, allowing the seventh-fewest passing yards per game at 196.3. That matchup is what keeps Goff from rating as a top 10 play at quarterback, as the Saints average 1.27 interceptions per game, the NFL's second-best mark so far in the 2023 season.
Fantasy managers without a top 10 quarterback can definitely take a chance on Goff on Sunday, though expectations should be tempered. The turnover risk is really the big ding on Goff's Week 13 fantasy football outlook.
