ANALYSIS: Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams has lived up to his first-round NFL Draft capital. The second-year wide receiver has struggled to get on the field between a torn ACL, suspension, and other injuries.
Williams has shown potential during his NFL career. The wide receiver is a dangerous threat downfield in the passing game. He can also make plays on the ground, scoring a rushing touchdown a few weeks ago against the New Orleans Saints.
Last week, Williams had six targets against the Minnesota Vikings, his second consecutive game with at least six. He scored 6.8 half-point PPR fantasy points against the NFC North division rivals. The second-year receiver has scored fewer than 9.6 fantasy points in all but two games in 2023.
While fantasy players should have high hopes for him in the future, Williams isn’t worthy of a starting spot in any fantasy football lineups in Week 17. He faces a Dallas Cowboys defense that has held wide receivers to 23.4 fantasy points per game, the sixth-fewest in the NFL. They haven’t given up a receiving touchdown to a wide receiver over the past three weeks.
