PROSPECT: James Wood, OF, Washington Nationals
ERIC CROSS' LATEST PROSPECT STASH RANKING: No. 10
CALL-UP ETA: June
ANALYSIS: The No. 2 prospect in the Washington system has been one of the best hitters in Triple-A this season and is quickly becoming a popular stash candidate in redraft leagues.
Wood is currently batting .323/.427/.475 in his first taste of Triple-A, with two home runs and eight stolen bases. The 21-year-old has 32 hits, with 11 of them going for extra bases.

His success this season is a great sign for the former second-round pick, as he posted a mediocre .248 AVG and stole only 10 bases at Double-A last season.
This season, he improved not only in his production at the plate but also in his ability to be more selective with his pitches. Wood had an ugly 39:124 BB:K ratio at Double-A last year but now has a much improved 18:25 BB:K ratio this season and is facing even harder competition.
These are all great signs and show that Wood nearing the final stages of his development process. Currently, the Nationals have several injuries in their outfield, such as Joey Gallo (shoulder), Lane Thomas (knee), and Victor Robles (hamstring), that could result in Wood being promoted sooner than expected. In addition, Eddie Rosario, who has been receiving starts in right field on the strong side of a platoon, has been struggling with a .088 AVG and could be riding the pine more often.
James Wood is an excellent stash in standard leagues as he should provide an excellent combination of speed and power when given the call.
