BALLER MOVE: Target as Final Round Handcuff or Pickup off the Waiver Wire
ANALYSIS: In a recent study of the offensive lines contained in the AFC East, the Patriots offensive line proves to be one of Jekyll and Hyde: while somewhat porous in pass proection, it's a ridiculous monster in run blocking. Three of the five starters have finished amongst the top in run blocking amongst all players in the league in the last two years and that sets up any player who runs behind that line to have a great season. Stevan Ridley famously held the position one season only to lose it the year after because of fumbling. Vereen's seen more as a change of pace and pass catching back than a consistent running back. James White on the other hand is a mix of both. If Ridley or Vereen were to lose their spot in the depth chart for any reason (injury, fumble, or just being outplayed) James would be running behind an offensive line that had the highest Adjusted Line Yards (basically a simple measurement of how much of a Running Back's production can be attributed to the offensive line in front of them) overall, and had the best average ALY amongst all teams when running plays inside of the offensive line (which the Patriots did last season on 80% of run plays).
