BALLER MOVE: Sit in 10+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB3
ANALYSIS: Buffalo Bills running back James Cook was a popular sophomore-year breakout candidate during the offseason. The Bills let Devin Singletary leave in free agency, giving the second-year running back no competition for the starting role. Furthermore, there were several positive reports about the young running back during training camp.
While he has been up and down this season, Cook is the RB13, averaging 11.2 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. The former Georgia star has 137 rushing attempts for 688 yards and a touchdown this year. He also has 27 receptions for 251 receiving yards and two scores.
Last week, the second-year running back had arguably the best performance of his career after the Bills fired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey. Cook had 17 rushing attempts for 73 yards. He also had three receptions for 29 receiving yards and a touchdown, scoring 17.7 fantasy points in the win over the New York Jets.
Unfortunately, fantasy players should avoid starting the young running back this week. He faces an elite Philadelphia Eagles run defense that has held running backs to only 11.9 fantasy points per game, the fewest in the NFL. They have also given up only two rushing touchdowns to running backs this season.
