Jalen Guyton (WR, LAC) - Week 16 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: With both Keenan Allen and Mike Williams banged up a bit for last TNF game against Las Vegas, Jalen Guyton was always going to eat more than usual. That didn't entirely mean a potentially big change was coming to Guyton's stats, though, as even on lower usage rates he has showcased a receiving-profile based more on big plays than anything else. And although last Thursday wasn't one of those incredible one-booming-play games for Guyton, he still grabbed a pass for a big-gain play.

That happened in the overtime when Guyton caught a pass for 53 yards of the total 91 he racked up through the full game. Guyton reached that mark over four receptions on six targets, averaging 22.8 yards per catch and missing on scoring a touchdown not by much in that 53-yard play.

Other than his ridiculous games with one, one, and two receptions in Weeks 4, 5, and 6 (average of 42+ Y/R in each of those) for 49 yards at least every time, this marked Guyton's highest yards-per-reception average of the season on a much healthier dose of receptions. The volume wasn't mindblowing, but he did the most of it when it mattered playing 80 percent of the team's offensive snaps.

Guyton has been the WR3 of the Chargers through 2020, and he has played more overall snaps than Mike Williams for LA this season. The Chargers face a relatively tough matchup next week against the Broncos, which have the 10th-best defense against fantasy WRs. If you are part of a deeper league with long rosters you might still find Guyton usable as a boom/bust play at your FLEX slot. Guyton might go for nothing next weekend, but he could also score a touchdown in some Justin Herbert bomb downfield that may be all you need to bring the fantasy chip home this year.
