BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 28% of leagues
ANALYSIS: It's been a tough road back from injury for Jake Odorizzi, and he has started fresh as a Houston Astro to the tune of quietly encouraging results. In 30.1 IP (seven starts, eight appearances) he has a 4.75 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and 3.88 FIP, while he has been even better over his last five outings (22.1 IP) with a 2.82 ERA, 0.806 WHIP, with 24 strikeouts, and just two HR allowed in that span.
The one-time All-Star has kicked up his strikeout percentage to a career-high 28.9% while maintaining a walk rate below the MLB average, and while his hard hit rate and average exit velocity are high, they have been slowly trending down as the season progresses. He has again started throwing his fastball more often (59.1%) while throwing his slider 10% less, which are current his two best pitches with values of 7.0 and 0.5. He had a rough start to the year with a lot of allowed damage, but time seems to be the remedy, and Jake Odorizzi is looking better with every start, so he is worth the addition in moderately-sized leagues.
