BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 23% of Yahoo leagues
ANALYSIS: Corey Knebel is headed to the disabled list with a hamstring injury, which means that the ninth inning is up for grabs in Milwaukee. There are several viable candidates for the role. Josh Hader is the flashiest name, but also the most widely-owned. In addition, he's a lefty and probably more suited to his current multi-inning fireman role. Jeremy Jeffress and Matt Albers are veterans with prior closing experience. The bet here, though, is on Barnes. A hard-throwing righty just shy of his 28th birthday, Barnes struck out 80 batters in 72 innings last season and has already fired six scoreless frames so far in 2018. When Knebel blew the save on Opening Day, it was Barnes who ultimately shut the door, striking out the side in the 12th inning.
Barnes saw his ownership rate tick up a few points overnight, but he's still available on the wire in over three-quarters of leagues at the moment. If you're scrapping for saves, consider adding him to your roster.
