BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-team leagues
ROSTERED IN: 57% of leagues
ANALYSIS: San Diego Padres shortstop/outfielder Jackson Merrill has had a solid start to his major league career and is worth adding to most fantasy leagues.
The No. 12 prospect on MLB Pipeline has a .333/.419/.426 through his first 18 games. The 20-year-old has hit one home run, swiped two bags, brought in five runs, and scored 12 times.
Merrill was praised for his excellent contact skills in the minor leagues, and those skills have translated well in his small taste of the major leagues. Merrill has a .314 xBA, placing him in the 91st percentile among hitters. In addition, he holds an excellent 18% whiff rate, 12.9% walk rate, and 17.7% K-rate, which are all above the league average. These underlying metrics are promising and suggest he can be in for a great summer.

Even though Merrill consistently bats in the bottom half of the lineup, he continues to score runs due to his elite on-base skills.
The former first-round selection is a solid pickup if you need a replacement shortstop or outfielder. Check your waiver wire and grab Merrill before he continues to shine in his rookie season.
