Jack Doyle (TE, IND) - Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: I was the first to expect a heavier workload for both Jack Doyle and/or Eric Ebron this week after T.Y. Hilton was ruled out with an injury, but that wasn’t the case. Doyle was targeted four times and Ebron did so on two occasions. As hard as reality is, this keeps being a timeshare role in the Colts offense and neither of the two tight ends elevates above the other. Good for Doyle owners/streamers, he is still leading the position in targets over Ebron (34 to 31), so he should keep seeing the ball thrown his way going forward.

Now being fair, and knowing how bad the players at the tight end position are performing and how ridiculously volatile outcomes are at the position, the fact that Doyle has been able to put up back-to-back 10-plus fantasy points performances is actually great. He completed a 10.1 outing in Week 8 (four catches for 61 yards) and an 11.2 one this past weekend with three catches for just 22 yards but a touchdown. Yes, the score helped his outcome, but that is how this goes I guess. In those two games, Doyle has out-performed Ebron 10.1 to 5.6 and 11.2 to 3.6 points, and while Ebron has a higher ceiling it is Doyle who provides a more solid floor at least to my eyes.

Brissett is now down injured, though, so the Colts receivers are going to suffer a little bump down in upside for the time he misses. I wouldn’t be too worried about Doyle and Ebron, though, as they might feature a little more heavily with a backup at the helm. Miami is average in stopping tight ends from scoring fantasy points, same as Jacksonville, so the next couple of matchups should be favorable for the Colts tight ends. Obviously, Doyle is not someone you’ll want to keep in your roster for the rest of the season, but he pencils in as a great streaming option at least for Week 10.
