ANALYSIS: Dub-dub to close the pre-Xmas season? Gotta love it! Jabari Smith Jr. put up a 24-10 on the monster Friday slate and went home to rest until we're past December 25. That was great, of course, and here's hoping he can keep it up after starting December in great shape but then hitting a bit of a slump.
Smith has appeared in 11 games this month, averaging 27 FP through Dec. 23. Now, that said, he reached 26+ FP in six of the first seven but he's topped 24 FP once in his last four (obviously, on that dub-dub Friday explosion against Dallas). The trend was horrid but he should bounce back in a hurry.
Smith has scored 10+ points and pulled down 8+ boards more often than not this season. He's scored 10+ points in 20 of his 32 games and grabbed 8+ boards in 15 of the 32.
Looking at the whole picture, Jabari is averaging a sweet 12-7 line with a block per game. In the NBA, just 18 players are keeping up those averages through Christmas, and Jabari Smith is the only one doing so, adding 2+ 3PM per game. The only pals close to him on that 3-point-scoring front are Kristaps Porzingis with 1.8 3PM a pop, Myles Turner with 1.6, and Joel Embiid at 1.1 himself.
Nobody else is even at 0.9 three-pointers made per game while averaging 12+ points, 7+ boards, and 1+ blocks per night.
