Analysis: With 86 yards on 48 carries in the last two games, the RB duo of Isaiah Crowell and Duke Johnson is a train wreck right now. One has to wonder if all the drama this season - with injuries, trade deadline rumors and offensive line coach Andy Moeller's dismissal - has had an effect on a blocking unit full of potential.
It doesn't help that the Browns have been largely abandoning the run in the second half of games lately, but something is off and no one is suffering more than Crowell. Only the coaching staff knows the truth about why the Browns have become a pass-first team.
Crowell is a decisive, one-cut runner who hits the hole hard, but he's not a creator on his own. A season in which he has not exceeded 72 yards in any game hit its nadir for Crowell last week at Pittsburgh. He finished with negative yardage and had a TD called back by a holding penalty.
Until the Browns show renewed cohesion up front and commitment to the run, it's hard to consider Crowell as anything more than a low-end RB3. His next two matchups against the average Ravens and Bengals run defenses should provide a litmus test.
