ANALYSIS: San Francisco 49ers running back Isaac Guerendo was a popular sleeper heading into the NFL Draft. However, the hype stopped after he landed in a crowded 49ers backfield.
Jordan Mason has been the team’s featured guy, with Christian McCaffrey (calf/Achilles) and Elijah Mitchell (hamstring) on injured reserve. After totaling one rushing attempt for zero yards over the first two weeks, Guerendo had five rushing attempts for 19 yards in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Rams. Mason still led the backfield, totaling 16 more opportunities than the rookie. Yet, it’s encouraging to see Guerendo get on the field.

Fantasy players with Mason on their roster or in deeper leagues should add Guerendo off the waiver wire. The rookie running back is next in line to be San Francisco’s starter if Mason gets hurt. Guerendo is purely a stash move, meaning fantasy players needing an impact addition for Week 4 should look elsewhere on the waiver wire.
