ANALYSIS: San Francisco 49ers running back Isaac Guerendo scored 19.2 PPR fantasy points in his team's Week 8 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. He once again showcased his excellent acceleration and effectiveness in head coach Kyle Shanahan's offensive scheme.

He’s on Bye this week so he may have been overlooked
Guerendo is *currently* the healthiest 49ers RB

He had an extraordinary athletic profile, logging a 4.33 second 40-yard dash at the NFL combine earlier this year. He did so at 221 pounds, which is absurd. Elite offensive minds can consistently make fantastic athletes like this succeed at the next level, and Guerendo has shown great potential.
The problem is that potential future Hall of Fame running back Christian McCaffrey (bilateral Achilles tendonitis) is set to return in Week 10, and the rookie is still third on the depth chart. CMC is one of the best running backs in the league, and Shanahan has shown that he will use him in a workhorse role, even if it means garbage time and meaningless touches.
The best path forward for his players' health and the offense's production could well be to have Guerendo serve in a complimentary role with McCaffrey, but that's unlikely. The head honcho prefers to not use rookies when he doesn't have to. That said, he appears to have clearly outplayed backup Jordan Mason (shoulder), and sometimes high-end talent forces coaches to change their personnel usage.
Guerendo is a solid handcuff option for McCaffrey managers.
