Zay Jones Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Jones (hamstring) is considered day-to-day with a hamstring injury, according to head coach Doug Pederson. Jones suffering another injury is a worrisome development for Jacksonville, who already lost Christian Kirk (core) for the rest of the regular season due to a core injury. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence (concussion) is in concussion protocol, so the team could be headed into a Week 16 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wounded.
Jacksonville is now in a three-way tie with the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans atop the AFC South, meaning a loss the rest of the way could cost them a home playoff game. If Jones can't play this week, expect Calvin Ridley, Evan Engram, Parker Washington, and potentially Jamal Agnew to see more targets. However, those targets could come from backup signal-caller C.J. Beathard.
Zay Jones Fantasy Football Outlook
If Lawrence and Jones play on Sunday, Jones will have plenty of fantasy football intrigue. The Tampa Bay defense has surrendered the fourth-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers this season, and Jones has established chemistry with T-Law.
If Beathard is under center, Jones would become a much riskier play, and it's a risk likely worth avoiding at such a crucial point in the fantasy season. Ultimately, deep-league fantasy managers might have no choice but to start him and he would still have upside, but his floor could be as low as just a few fantasy points.
