Tight end Zach Ertz first started his NFL career back in 2013. Ertz was a second-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles, where he spent his first nine years. From 2013 to 2021, the former Stanford product totaled 579 catches for 6,267 yards and 38 touchdowns. He also made three Pro Bowl appearances (2017 to 2019) with the Eagles.
He was then traded to the Arizona Cardinals in the middle of the 2021 season and spent around two seasons with them. However, the Cardinals released him during the 2023 season, paving the way for Ertz to find a new home with the Washington Commanders this offseason.
Is Washington a good fit for Ertz? What is his 2024 fantasy football outlook? Let's dive and find out.

Is Zach Ertz a Good Fit for the Commanders?
After Ertz was released by the Cardinals in late November, the veteran spent several months on the free-agent market. He eventually signed with the Detroit Lions in the playoffs but never appeared in a game.
Now, the tight end is headed to Washington after agreeing to a one-year, $5 million deal this offseason. With the team also releasing Logan Thomas in early March, Ertz is set to become the Commanders' starting tight end in 2024. That's good news for his fantasy value this upcoming season.

He'll be atop the Commanders' depth chart -- ahead of other tight ends like John Bates and Cole Turner -- which makes this a great fit for the veteran. Despite being 33 years old, Ertz should still see plenty of targets next year.
Zach Ertz 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
Ertz going to Washington on a one-year deal will surely make him a streaming tight end option throughout the 2024 season. However, he likely won't be more than that.
Ertz has dealt with his fair share of injuries over the past few years, which have included a high ankle sprain (2020), an ACL tear (2022), and a quad injury (2023). All that has caused him to miss extended time. He also goes to a Commanders team that has plenty of question marks at the quarterback position.

Even if the team decides to take a quarterback with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, that might not help his fantasy value. Rookie quarterbacks tend to be very inconsistent in their first year, which would only make Ertz a streaming option at best in 2024.
