Is Van Jefferson Playing In Week 8 Against The San Francisco 49ers?
Van Jefferson has yet to play a snap in 2022 and has been on the Los Angeles Rams' Injured Reserve list all season. However, after practicing with the team all week, Rams' head coach Sean McVay confirmed Friday that Jefferson will be activated from the IR and see a normal workload against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 8.
Jefferson logged an impressive 80.3% snap rate for L.A.'s offense in 2021. If McVay's expectation of a normal workload is close to accurate, Jefferson should see plenty of opportunites in this divisional clash against the Niners.
Should I Pickup And Start Van Jefferson Against In Week 8 Against the Niners?
The Rams' offense Jefferson is returning to this week scarcely resembles the high-octane unit he was a part of in 2021. L.A. currently stands just 25th in the NFL in average total yards per game at 335.2.
That said, Jefferson's ability as a deep threat could be a shot in the arm for a Rams' passing attack that's yet to get on track this year and L.A. quarterback Matthew Stafford expressed his excitement at the prospect of Jefferson's return earlier this week.
It's tough to trust a player that's just back from such a lengthy layoff, but Jefferson should quickly supplant Ben Skowrenek as L.A.'s WR3. The former Florida Gator ended 2021 with an aDOT of 13.46. That big play ability makes him worth an add this week. At the moment, Jefferson should be considered a boom-or-bust FLEX option for fantasy managers that are in need of immediate help.
