The New York Giants underwent massive changes in their backfield this offseason. Saquon Barkley signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency after six years with the Giants.
New York quickly added Devin Singletary after he spent the 2023 season with the Houston Texans. The veteran signed a three-year deal with the Giants to take over as the team’s starting running back.
However, the team also spent a fifth-round pick in the NFL Draft on Tyrone Tracy Jr. Which running back will be the RB1 for the Giants in 2024? Let’s dive into it.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
Tracy is one of my favorite late-round running backs to draft this year. He earned the 10th-highest rushing grade in the rookie class from PFF last season (90.5). Furthermore, Tracy ranked first in yards after contact per attempt in the rookie class among running backs with at least 90 attempts in 2023, per PFF (4.44). The talented rookie has taken reps with the starters this offseason and has made a push to be New York’s pass-catching running back.

Devin Singletary 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
The veteran running back had a strong finish to the 2023 season with the Texans. Singletary pushed Dameon Pierce to the bench, making him the featured guy on an elite offense. However, he averaged only 4.2 yards per rushing attempt, the lowest of his career. Furthermore, Singletary had only four rushing touchdowns, his lowest total since 2020, despite having a career-high 216 rushing attempts.

Is Tyrone Tracy Jr. Or Devin Singletary The RB1 For The Giants?
Fantasy football players should draft Singletary with expectations that he will be the starting running back in Week 1. However, no one should be surprised if Tracy turns into this year’s Isiah Pacheco. The Day 3 running back is a former wide receiver, which will give the Giants a weapon out of the backfield with Barkley in Philadelphia. I would rather draft Tracy at his later-round ADP than Singletary in the middle rounds.
