Los Angeles Rams tight end Tyler Higbee has been a pleasant surprise for fantasy players this season. The veteran is the TE7 for the year in half-point PPR scoring, averaging 9.1 fantasy points per game.
Last year the former fourth-round pick averaged only 4.1 receptions for 37.3 receiving yards and 7.8 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. Furthermore, he has struggled since his famous finish to the 2019 season, averaging only 7.4 half-point PPR fantasy points per game in 30 games during the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
So, should fantasy players start Higbee in Week 6? That will depend on his health.

Is Tyler Higbee Playing This Week?
The seventh-year tight end did not practice on Wednesday due to an ankle injury. However, he was a limited participant in practice on Thursday and Friday.
While Higbee didn’t have an ideal week’s worth of practice, head coach Sean McVay expects the tight end to play tomorrow against the Carolina Panthers.
Should I Start Tyler Higbee In Week 6?
Assuming he plays for the Rams, Higbee belongs in your fantasy lineup. Furthermore, unless fantasy players have Travis Kelce or Mark Andrews, the Los Angeles tight end is a plug-and-play starter until further notice.
Higbee’s success has been due to a high target share. The veteran is second on the team in targets with 48, only behind Cooper Kupp. Furthermore, the next closest Ram to tight end in targets is Ben Skowronek with 24.
More importantly, Higbee is among the league leaders in targets at the tight end position.
Surprisingly, the veteran tight end hasn’t scored a touchdown this season. Yet, Higbee is consistently earning targets and scoring fantasy points. He has at least nine targets in all but one game this season. Meanwhile, the star tight end had scored at least 8.1 half-point PPR fantasy points in four straight contests.
This week he faces the Panthers. Carolina has surrendered 8.1 half-point PPR fantasy points per game to tight ends this season, slightly below the league average. However, they have struggled to slow down tight ends since Week 1.
Over the past month, opposing tight ends are averaging 4.8 receptions for 42.5 receiving yards and 9.1 half-point PPR fantasy points per game against the Panthers. Furthermore, Carolina has surrendered two receiving touchdowns to the position over the past four weeks.
Assuming Higbee plays tomorrow, he belongs in your fantasy lineup.
